There She Stands 1

I could clearly hear the voice
But I still couldn’t believe my ears
Meeting her had not been a choice
Because of what happened in yesteryears

The spirit was willing
But the body was weak
Though it wouldn’t cost a shilling
To finally end the gnashing streak

The touch was gentle
The voice was meek
For what I long do seek
To it do I now rattle

I fought with my legs
I battled with my mind
I sought for something less
To which my soul may bind

She stuck out her hands
As I gasped for my breath
My limbs visibly shaking
My head profusely sweating

I’d wanted to speak
To give her a warm compliment
But my mouth wouldn’t let me
My tongue totally clenched

She mentioned her name
I managed a smile
But she knew my name
And that saved me a while

I regained composure
She still wanted to talk
I felt a little pressure
And seemed like a hulk

She asked for a date
A move which was out of groove
I told her not to be late
To the hut with a pentagon roof

I realised it was time to give her proof
Before another person cried wolf
I had to be in control
Before the sun took its toll

The beauty was stunning
My heart was running
Her face was charming
But her looks too cunning

Then out of piety
I had to hide my anxiety
Because if I didn’t move the right foot
My plans will go kaput

She flashed a smile
Which lasted but for a while
But before my woes could pile
I made the moment worthwhile

She set the tone
I put off my phone
She reached for the stone
Since we were now alone
